The territory of the settlement of chronicle Zvenyhorod

A visit to the reserve is a journey through the Zvenyhorod Valley, where there was one of the largest princely cities in the 11th-13th centuries in what is now Ukraine. The reserve manages an archaeological site with an area of over 32 hectares. Today, the area is open to the public, both for independent and guided visits. Anyone can walk along the paths to the places where the prince's palace, boyar and craftsmen's quarters once stood, as well as climb the citadel, the most fortified place in medieval Zvenyhorod, from which its development began. We invite you to a fascinating journey through space and time, and the stories our guides tell will make it especially interesting.

Museum of the reserve

A visit to the museum of the Ancient Zvenyhorod Historical and Cultural Reserve is an opportunity to rediscover the legendary chronicle city. The exposition in the two-story building tells the story of the little-known princely capital in detail using various means. The exposition consists of an exhibition of banners, graphic materials, a film about ancient Zvenyhorod, and augmented reality objects. Before February 24, 2022, the exhibition also included artifacts of the medieval city that archaeologists found during large-scale excavations in Zvenyhorod. Currently, the artifacts are temporarily unavailable for visitors to see. But we will return them to the showcases as soon as possible. A special offer from our museum is the first virtual reality tour in Ukraine that allows you to see the city of the 12th century. Using VR glasses, visitors can see 12 places of ancient Zvenyhorod. Four of them are interiors of churches and palaces, eight are streets, squares, and panoramas of the city. Entrance ticket to the museum is 50 UAH. Ticket for a tour of the medieval city in VR glasses is 50 UAH

Art gallery

A mysterious and very beautiful building, which is certainly an adornment of the central square of Zvenyhorod, is the Prosvita building. It is also called the old People's House or the Art Gallery. The building was built in 1926 by an Argentine of Ukrainian descent, with the financial support of the diaspora. It is said that the building's interiors were originally decorated with paintings: scenes from the history of Ukraine could be seen on the walls. However, during the Soviet era, these murals were repeatedly painted over and, according to the legend, eventually destroyed. The building was given to the reserve in 2020. It is currently awaiting restoration work.
